A little history on Destiny....
Late in 1996, God began opening doors and the James family began attending a small in-home Bible study that had a vision to become a church. Pastor Richard soon began pastoring this small church and then in January 1999, Destiny Fellowship received her non-profit status.
As with all churches starting out, there were many ups and downs and Destiny was no exception, but the early days were full of fun, laughter, hard work, packing-up, unpacking, towing, building and on and on. Early church locations were places like the Shasta Learning Center's auditorium. Every week, it was set-up and tear-down. Then on to share a building with another church for a couple of years. All in all there were eight moves or location changes until 2002.
The day came when Destiny finally had a home that didn't need to be "transported". An old bank building became available and renovation took place.... the youth made a game room out of the big vault... the upstairs storage vault became the Sunday school class for the kids... teller lines and privacy cubicles were torn down to make way for the main sanctuary... it was wonderful!!! Destiny was able to rent that building for two years, then found that the building was being sold and that the church needed to vacate in two weeks.... how do you move a church in two weeks with no where to go?
So early in 2004, God had a plan. Pastor Richard was impressed to call another pastor in town that had a building in Anderson. The two met, God spoke, and again history was made. The building needed much renovation and everybody rolled up their sleeves and completely renovated the building and parking lot.... no more moving... Destiny owned this one. Settled in location, but not settled in spirit, God let it be known that Destiny had not finished her journey.
God had a plan! In 2008, God opened another door to move Destiny back to Redding where she began. Destiny Fellowship and Bonnyview Baptist Church became "Two churches, one heart, ONE LORD!" and for the next three years blended their congregations to become one church body, non-denomination, and running hard with the vision that God had given. On July 8, 2011, both churches became one.
On goes the story.... when God ordains a work for His kingdom, the ride can be "a wild and crazy roller-coaster ride".... Serving the Lord and doing His will is simply amazing, and we bless His Holy NAME for all that He has done... and all that He is yet to do through Destiny Fellowship, BUT more IMPORTANTLY, ALL of the PEOPLE that GOD HIMSELF worked through to accomplish a marvelous and wonderous thing! Praise His Name Forever.
